BLUE LAKE, Humboldt County — October 25, 2026. Blue Lake’s Bike & Skate Park on Taylor Way has two separate developments: the city scheduled asphalt preparation and paving for October 23 as work on the first phase moved ahead, while a community partner has announced an arts grant to support a Tribal art project at the park.
What the city says about Phase 1
In an October 20 update, the Blue Lake Parks & Recreation Department said preparation and paving were scheduled to begin October 23. This is a construction milestone, not proof that Phase 1 is finished or that the entire facility is open without restrictions. Residents should verify current access and construction conditions with the city before visiting.
Arts grant and Tribal partnerships
The city’s October 21 announcement says the Mountain Bike Tribal Trail Alliance secured support through the Arts in California Parks program for a proposed project titled Voices of the Land: Tribal Art at Blue Lake Bike & Skate Park. Described plans include murals, retaining-wall artwork and kiosks; a potential shade structure is expressly dependent on donations and the available budget.
The city says the effort is intended to celebrate Indigenous heritage and culture through community collaboration, including with the Wiyot Tribe, Blue Lake Rancheria, Yurok Tribe, Hoopa Valley Tribe and other local Tribes. Their roles and future project updates should be described through statements from the participating organizations, not assumed from the grant notice.
What residents can do next
The city continues seeking ideas for Phase 2 amenities. Its Bike & Skate Park project page is the starting point for community input and future construction details. A proposed amenity is not a completed improvement, and the announcements do not establish a final opening date or final total project cost.
